Moving from Shopware to Shopify, done by people who know Shopware
Hosting, updates and plugin maintenance are not for every team. We take your data out of Shopware properly and land it on Shopify with redirects and integrations in place.
When moving to Shopify makes sense
Some teams want to spend their time on merchandising and marketing, not on server updates, plugin conflicts and major upgrades. For mainly B2C stores with a standard checkout, Shopify’s hosted model can be simpler and cheaper to run.
The hard part is getting everything out of Shopware cleanly: properties, variants, customer groups, SEO URLs. Because we build on Shopware every day, we know where that data actually lives.
What we move from Shopware
Data
- Products, variants and properties → options and metafields
- Categories → collections
- Customers and addresses
- Order history
- Shopping experiences → Shopify pages and sections
SEO & functionality
- SEO URLs → Shopify URLs with redirects
- Meta data and alt texts
- Plugins replaced by Shopify apps or custom apps
- ERP and other integrations reconnected
How the migration runs
Audit & inventory
We catalogue your data, extensions, integrations and every URL that ranks or earns traffic.
Mapping
Field-by-field data mapping and a complete old-URL → new-URL redirect map.
Build
The new store is built and themed on staging, with integrations reconnected.
Rehearsal migrations
We run the data migration repeatedly against staging and check the results with you.
Cut-over
Final delta migration, DNS switch and redirects live — planned for your quietest hours.
Aftercare
We watch 404s, Search Console and orders closely in the weeks after launch.
Things to plan for
Variant and option limits
Shopify limits options per product. Products with many properties may need restructuring — we decide that with you before migrating.
B2B and customer groups
Customer-specific pricing works very differently on Shopify. We check early whether your B2B setup fits.
URL structure
Shopify forces /products/ and /collections/ paths. Every old URL gets a redirect so rankings follow.
Custom plugin logic
Business logic in custom Shopware plugins needs a new home — a Shopify app, Shopify Functions or an external service.
Frequently asked questions
Can you migrate from Shopware 5 as well as Shopware 6?
Yes. Both versions store data differently, and we have worked extensively with both.
How long does it take?
A typical B2C store takes 6–12 weeks including theme work. The audit tells you what your specific catalogue and integrations need.
Are customer passwords migrated?
Shopify cannot import password hashes from Shopware, so customers set a new password. We use Shopify’s account invite flow to make this painless.
